Jared Padalecki: Seeing My Son Sick Is Hard
While some parents are busy celebrating their baby’s newest milestone, Jared Padalecki is stuck feeling sorry for his 9-month-old son‘s latest first.

“He just got sick for the first time. It’s a really vulnerable feeling when your kid gets sick because you can’t really do anything,” the Supernatural star told PEOPLE of son Thomas Colton at Wednesday’s People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

“You don’t just want to pack them full of drugs and make them feel better, so you’re kind of sitting there and he’s congested.”

Adding to Padalecki’s guilty conscience? “I’m congested too,” the actor, 30, admits. “That’s another thing — I feel like I got him sick.”

But with Thomas on the mend — “He’s not feeling great, so he’s on some drugs,” the new dad shares — baby boy is sure to be back to his old self soon … literally!

“It’s really funny, because … we’ve met a lot of new parents with little babies, and a lot of babies seem like babies, but he feels like he’s kind of an old soul,” Padalecki shares.

“He kind of looks at you and tries to figure you out, which is cool. I hope he’s a mature kid.”

But yes. I hear you. And I haven't even been able to watch this yet. What with me only having 3 GB/month of internet at home, I need to wait to watch this video of Misha and West until I can get to a Tim Hortons, or something, where I can lurk and steal internet... I think a 4 am trip to a 24/7 Timmies might be in order tonight.

Awww, Jay-Jay. Thinking your kid has an old soul- For some reason I just find that the most adorable thing ever.

See, I always told myself that I'd have a baby before I turned 30. I turn 29 this year, so I'm already hearing the clock.

There are still things that I want to do, though, that I know I probably won't be able to do once I have a child.

But seeing the boys so happy with their expanding families is making me go, "Well..."

I feel you since I turned 29 in Nov & my sister & my boyfriends little bro both had kids in March! I am really wanting one but we have been trying for about 4 years now with no luck

I'm with ya. People keep saying I'll change my mind once I'm older (which, granted, I'm only almost-23), but it's just... not happening. Ever. I'd rather do pretty much anything other than have a child. I'm going to be quite content being the crazy adopted aunt to my friends' children, if they have any.
